Ladyhawke
It’s such a beautiful day out today so I felt like a nice little dancy pop tune (is that actually a word?) from Ladyhawke. Haven’t listened to this in awhile but it just evokes that summer feel. Thanks to Pinglewood for the track.
Ok, so I know I’m like really behind on posting The Ting Tings, but honestly I’m just not sure how I feel about them. However, since I keep seeing them everywhere I might as well give you the opportunity to see what all the talk is about and judge for yourself. I think they are starting to grow on me…but very slowly.
I’m feeling a little soulful today, and Welsh singer Duffy knows just how to hit the spot. Leading off “Mercy” with an acoustic basseline that could easily be a chopped up version of the one found in “Stand By Me”, this song takes you straight back to the days of twisting and shouting.
So what do you suppose two Harvard Boys that get signed to Star Trak would sound like?
You get a refreshing mix of 60’s pop, with an air of sophistication and a lot of fun combined to make a sound that is familiar yet completely new all at once. Oh, and these guys are always down to do a remix and are currently taking suggestions for what they should “Chesterize” next on their myspace. If you are going to be one of the lucky folks to be attending SXSW, you can check them out there as well.
More upbeat indie rock from from South East London, with a great retro sound that fits perfectly in the now. Check out their new single “So So Happy Making” on their myspace.
Grab “Penelope (Under My Hat)” for free here at RCRD LBL and check out their video for “Til the Dawn”.
