Donāt know how I missed this oneā¦some of the best from Flying Lotus in awhile. The song features Dolly, which apparently is the combination of Flying Lotus and Ahu, so Iām not sure why itās labeled as Flying Lotus ft. Dolly. Whatever, Iām going to stop thinking too much about this and let you enjoy this crazy track.
So Santogoldās album dropped yesterday, and you better believe I was at the Virgin Record Store at 9:30 in the morning making sure I got my my wristband to see her perform later that night! Iām not sure what kind of performance (or person) I was expecting, but I sure didnāt get itā¦and that is definitely not a bad thing. Judging by her music and pictures I was expecting someone that was really eccentric and outspoken, which Iām sure she probably can be. Instead yesterday, this cute, tiny, charming woman in black pants and a leotard is on stage almost in tears discussing how happy she is that her album was finally released. Overall it was a great performance and I absolutely love her CD!
There was one unscheduled visit during the meet and greet, when out of nowhere Lilā Mama jumps in front of the line to take a picture with Santogold and then begins to walk down the line to shamelessly plug an upcoming performance of hers. Really? Some people have no shameā¦
Oh, and for all of those folks who keep trying to compare her to M.I.A. or keep calling her a copyā¦take a listen to the album and then back off. Santogold can stand on her own two feet.

āI make dirty ghetto-tech and lyrical dance musicā is what Cerebral Vortex has used to describe his gritty version of electro rap. I actually couldnāt agree with him more, with grimy lyrics and heavy hitting drums, you canāt help but bounce. This is one artist I am really hoping to get to catch live, and Iām sure the folks at SXSW were very satisfied. Afterall, you can only expect a fun and exciting performance from a person who is a self-proclaimed āstreet hippie who just happens to love v-necks, skinny jeans and sleep with American Apparel modelsā Dirty, fun musicā¦but you gotta love it. 
You can also catch this San Antonio native as on half of the hypebeast/street pop group ā215: The Freshest Kidzā, who have a 12 inch coming out in April on UK based Stuff Records. He will also be self-releasing his EP āFluorescentā sometime this year. Make sure you hit up his myspace for some other bangers as well. Oh and he has a nice message for the folks out there in the cyber space, āforget oreosā¦eat stereo cupcakesā. Gotta love shameless plugs!
